Dr. Harpreet Chahal grew up on a farm in India, where animal care was a natural part of life from her earliest memories. As she grew a bit older, she began to develop a fascination with the sciences. For Dr. Chahal, combining her passion for pets and her medical interests simply made sense — she’s known ever since she was a little girl that she would one day help animals as a veterinarian!
Dr. Chahal began her veterinary studies in 1996 at the Punjab Agricultural University in India, completing internships in large and small animal internal medicine during her studies. She joined the Veterinary Epidemiology Department at the university, studying various epidemic diseases that affect pets, before moving to the United States in 2002. Dr. Chahal earned her master’s degree in veterinary sciences in 2004 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and she explored the worlds of exotic care and microbiology. After becoming a licensed veterinarian in the States, she relocated to the Bay Area in 2007 and has been practicing here ever since — she purchased Dublin Veterinary Hospital in 2011 to provide the community with her brand of client-centered, personalized, and compassionate care.
Around the clinic, Dr. Chahal particularly likes performing dental work and helping pets feel better with great dermatological care. She’s also fond of internal medicine cases, pain management, and surgical procedures. Most of all, she likes to meet new pet owners and their beloved companions every day!
When time permits away from the hospital, Dr. Chahal loves painting landscapes, reading good books, and spending quality time at home with her husband, daughter and son.
